The gunman in the UNLV shooting was identified as Anthony James Polito, a financially struggling academic who had applied for jobs at various educational institutions in Nevada but was denied employment each time.

Polito had sent 22 letters to university personnel across the country, which were intercepted before delivery. A suspicious white powdery substance was found in at least one of the letters. [ more ]

The shooter at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas was a 67-year-old career college professor who may have been passed over for a job at the university.

The shooting occurred in the university's Beam Hall business school building, where students and professors were preparing for exams. [ more ]
